TunnelBar is a macOS utility owned and published by Hosting Playground Inc.
Data TunnelBar Reads Locally
TunnelBar reads local ngrok configuration, local ngrok process state, local ngrok logs, saved TunnelBar groups, and ngrok's local inspector API at http://127.0.0.1:4040 when available. This data is used to display tunnel status and help you manage local tunnels.
Data TunnelBar Stores Locally
TunnelBar stores saved tunnel groups in:
~/Library/Application Support/TunnelBar/groups.jsonIf you enable Start at Login, TunnelBar writes a LaunchAgent plist in:
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.hostingplayground.TunnelBar.plistTunnelBar may create timestamped backups of your ngrok config before changing configured tunnel ports.
Data Sent to Hosting Playground Inc
TunnelBar does not intentionally send your tunnel configuration, local request details, ngrok logs, or saved groups to Hosting Playground Inc.
Software Update Checks
TunnelBar may contact the published Sparkle appcast URL to check for updates. That request may expose standard network metadata, such as IP address, user agent, and request time, to the hosting provider for the update feed.
Third-Party Services
TunnelBar is designed to work with ngrok, which is provided by ngrok, Inc. Your use of ngrok is governed by ngrok's own terms and privacy policy.
Changes
Hosting Playground Inc may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version should be published on the TunnelBar website.
